Practice Description: |
This is a new program to begin this summer – hired two already, both with experience as a hospitalist. Work at one hospital. Each doc expected to see 18-20 inpatients per day, max. When reach that volume, will bring on additional hospitalists. Hospitalists will make decisions of how this program will run, regarding scheduling, operations, etc. Each Hospitalist will be required to work 2,040 hours per year with 8 weeks off for vacation. Initial thoughts on scheduling: philosophy - they want physicians to be able to spend a good part of their day with their families: For start up M-F schedule will be: 5 – 10 hour shifts - 7am – 5 pm 5 - 8 hour shifts - 1pm – 9 pm When fully staffed will add - 1 on night shift 10:00 pm – 7am Initially the 18 internists will be covering the weekends so the hospitalists will have the weekend off. When fully staffed, the hospitalists will also cover weekends sometime during their rotation. If physician works extra shifts – extra pay. |
